Why didn’t David Fincher get his own Directors Label music video compilation DVD, back when those were being put out?

I remember reading that they approached him, since he was an obvious choice, but he turned them down.  Those required a lot of input from the directors participating, and he may have felt he wouldn’t have had the time to do it right.  (Or he was prepping one of the features at that point…)

A beautiful and delicate piece featuring body-painted dancers in the autumn leaves….
